The Build

The build is a DIY house / studio build project.  Micah Ball (my husband) and I have done all work shown except for the excavation, cement footer, metal roof, gutters, and heat pumps.  Many years of renting, losing housing, and being creatively limited by the housing crisis in the Bay Area led to consider a more sustainable option to support our creative endeavors. The build has become a creative project in itself spanning over three years. Our build decisions have been driven by a push pull between sustainability, aesthetics, function, ability, and cost. The process has been an introduction to the build industry; with our project landing somewhere on the outskirts.
